Stake History

1970 Vista Ward Split

February 22, 1970 the original Vista Ward was divided by President Wallace Gray, Palomar Stake President, with Russell Cannon as Bishop of the Vista 1st Ward and Robert McKinley as Bishop of the newly created Vista 2nd Ward. This was the first ward division in what was to become the Vista California Stake.

2020 New Stake Presidency

VISTA CALIFORNIA STAKE: (March 8, 2020) President — Robert Salem Greenwood, 44, professional farrier, blacksmith, knife smith; succeeding Mark H. Ballif; wife, Tricia Angela Needham Greenwood. Counselors — Donald Craig Riddle, 54, president, Adair Striping; wife, Lisa Karen Adair Riddle. Gregory Paul Conk, 59, account executive, Oracle Corp.; wife, Lorraine Marie Salazar Conk. Pres. Ballif and his wife were recently called to preside over the Manila Philippines Mission.[1]

The San Diego California Temple is the 45th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Situated near the upscale community of La Jolla in San Diego. Connecting the towers at the center is a supernal star-shaped atrium filled with a healthy, colorful garden. The atrium is accessed from the breathtaking two-story Celestial Room filled with towering art glass, suspended light fixtures, and featuring a grand staircase to an upper-level balcony.
