Stake History[]

23 August 2020 Stake Changes[]

On August 23, 2020, the Orlando Florida South Stake was partially split to form the new Orlando Florida West Stake. The boundaries of the Lakeland, Leesburg, Orlando Florida Hunters Creek Stake (now St. Cloud), Orlando Florida Stake, and Cocoa stakes were also affected. The new stake is the Church's sixth stake organized in Florida since 2015. There are now 34 stakes in Florida. [1]

The Orlando South Stake now includes the Orlando Portuguese Branch, Windermere Ward, Ocoee Ward, Olympia Ward, Windy Ridge Spanish Ward, Lake Butler Ward, Hunters Creek Ward, Buena Ventura Spanish Ward, and the Bumby Ward.

The Bear Bay Mandarin Branch, Winter Garden Ward, Buena Vista YSA Branch, Avalon Ward, Lake Reams Ward, and Lake Crescent ward were moved to the new Orlando West Stake and joined by the Lake Louise Ward, Citrus Ridge Ward, and Davenport Wards.

Elders Vern P Stanfill of the Seventy and Douglas B Carter of the Area Seventy presided at this Virtual Stake Conference. President Scott Shill and his counselors Michael Donahoo and Jose Barreiros were released. President Kurt Scherer, 1st counselor Paul Waters, and 2nd counselor Joe Thompson were called as the new Orlando South Stake Presidency.

Orlando Florida Temple[]


Orlando Florida Temple sits overlooking a chain of lakes on the edge of the Orlando suburb of Windermere in an area described as one of Florida's most beautiful locations. The temple is characterized by its white exterior, graceful columns, arched windows, and delightful water features. Palms trees and shrubs are planted generously across the temple grounds that are open to the public.
