2022 - 3500th Stake Create[]

Liberia1

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has just organized it 3500th stake earlier this year. The church had finished year 2021 with 3499 stakes when on December 12th was organized the Rexburg Idaho East Stake. But then in early in 2022, it was necessary for the church to discontinue two stakes due to shifting membership population affecting the Tacoma Washington South Stake(combined with the Tacoma Stake) and the Porlamar Venezuela Stake (downgraded to a district). This brought the count of stakes downward to 3497 until the church the Holland Michigan Stake and Post Falls Idaho Stakes which brought the count back up to 3499.

On March 13, 2022, the church organized the Monrovia Liberia Virginia Stake in West Africa from a division of the Monrovia Liberia Bushrod Island Stake. Virginia is a western suburb of Monrovia, located near the Atlantic Ocean on the northern side of the Saint Paul River. It was the birthplace of Angie Brooks, the first African female president of the United Nations General Assembly.

Africa West Area President, President Martinez Presided over the Conference/Creation. Area Seventy assigned Elder Daniel Karbason, was his Companion. Elder Karbason read from the Doctrine and Covenants 82:14-18. He encouraged our Liberian Saints to put on their beautiful garments and strengthen their Stakes. He said they can do this by paying their tithes, magnifying their callings, attending church meetings. He also stress that ministering is the key to do the Lord's work.

President Martinez gave insights on how leaders are called. He said they are called of God. This is the pattern and it has been since in the Church. Leadership are extended because the Lord knows the individual and what he can become. Therefore, a calling is to learn and become. These are scenes from the conference - the happy mood of our Youths and Young Adults, Missionaries, families, teachers and Supervisors

This new stake includes the following wards; Banjor 1st, Banjor 2nd, Brewersville, Duala, Lagoon, St Paul Bridge and Virginia Wards and the Waterside Branch.

The following are the Presidencies of the new Virginia and Bushrod Island Stakes Virginia Stake: President Prince S. Nyanforh Bro. Joseph G. David (1st Counselor) Bro. Christisn Beah Dari (2nd Counselor) Bushrod Island Stake: President Festus Teah Fugerson Bro. Moses Bah Slamie (1st Counselor) Bro. Paul K. Wrotto (2nd Counselor)

There are now a total of six stakes and one district in Liberia. The Bushrod Island Stake was created just over 5 years earlier on 27 November 2016. [1]

The Church organized a new stake in the Monrovia metropolitan area on March 13th. The Virginia Liberia Stake was organized from a division of the Monrovia Liberia Bushrod Island Stake (organized in 2016 at the same time when the district was divided to create the Caldwell Liberia District). The new stake includes the following seven wards and one branch: the Banjor 1st, Banjor 2nd, Brewersville, Duala, Lagoon, St Paul Bridge, and Virginia Wards, and the Virginia Waterside Branch. The Church also redrew the boundaries of the neighboring Caldwell Liberia Stake and Gardnersville Liberia Stake so the Monrovia Liberia Bushrod Island Stake now includes most of the wards in central and southern Bushrod Island.

There are now six stakes in Liberia - all of which are located in Monrovia. There is also one district in the country located in Kakata. The creation of a second district in Liberia headquartered in Harbel appears imminent as there are now four branches in the Harbel area.[2]
