2022 Stake Consolidation[]

On 5 June 2022, Fremont California Stake and Hayward California Stake were consolidated at a combined stake conference. The new stake retains the Fremont California Stake as the stake name. The new stake presidency consists of Lance Taylor, President; Kyle McCane, 1st Counselor; and Ben Hancock, 2nd Counselor. President Taylor had beene serving as the president of Hayward Stake. The Fremont Stake presidency was released (Ken Perry, Dale Holladay and Sam Topham), and all Hayward Stake leaders and officers were released. The following wards were discontinued and bishoprics released. Hayward Stake - Brookvale Ward and Hayward 2nd Ward, Fremont Stake - Centerville ward and Irvington Ward. These wards were merged into adjacent wards. The five wards in the Fremont Stake are now the Hayward Ward, Decoto Ward, Bayside Ward, Central Park Ward and Mission Peak Ward. The Stake also contains three branches, the Fremont Branch (ASL), Alvarado Branch (Spanish) and Newark Branch (Spanish). The combined Fremont Stake is now in the California San Jose Mission. (The Hayward Stake was previously in the California Oakland/San Francisco Mission.) The Fremonth Stake Center will now be located in the Decoto Chapel so as to be more central to all members.

Oakland California Temple[]

The Oakland California Temple is the 13th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the only LDS temple built with a modern five-spire design and exhibits an Oriental motif. From the temple grounds and terrace are views of the Bay Area, including downtown Oakland, the Bay Bridge, Yerba Buena Island, downtown San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. The grounds are accented by flowers, palm trees, and a formal-style man-made river running from one fountain to the other.
